You want to sell online? Be notice of this new online business law 2013 in Malaysia!

Malaysia new online business law 2013 will start to enforce from 1 July 2013. This new rules set is for the purpose to prevent frauds of trading  online.

The rules apply to all businesses that run in social networking sites and websites.

This rule will be implemented under the Consumer Protection Regulations 2012.

The things that need to be adhered to business website under the Consumer Protection Regulations 2012 :

  1. business name
  2. Company name and name of the person who carries on business
  3. Business or company registration number;
    This e-mail address and telephone number and premises
  4. Details of the main characteristics of the goods or services
  5. The full price of the goods or services, including transport costs, taxes and other costs
  6. Method of payment
    The terms of conditions
  7. Estimated delivery time or service to the buyer

This rule applies to individuals who are the online marketplace operator who provide goods or services through a website or the online marketplaces including social media such as Facebook.

* Online Marketplace is a website where the goods or services marketed by third parties for commercial purposes while online marketplace operator means a person who post in for example mudah.my or lelong.com.my.
