Our prime minister today had announced the rate of Malaysia minimum wage for private section, as it been schedule will be made on the labour day of 2012.
The minimum wage rates prescribed in Peninsular Malaysia is RM900 per month (RM4.33 per hour) while for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territory is RM800 per month (RM3.85 per hour), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Putrajaya.
He said the minimum wage covers all of the workers in all economic sectors in all countries except the domestic service like maids and gardeners.
“The date of commencement of the implementation of this minimum wage is 6months from the date of the Minimum Wage Order was gazetted.” he said that during a speech last night.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Labour Day which is celebrated today is a special gift from the Federal Government to all the workers.
