KUALA LUMPUR – Maybank Islamic Bhd, a financial arm of the Maybank Group, emerged as the first financial institution in Malaysia that allows the registration of pilgrims (Haji) through ATM machines.
This is due to the strategic partnership forged between the Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) and Maybank Islamic.
Registration of Haji is one of six new services introduced on Thursday by the two institutions.
Once connected Maybank account and LTH, depositors can produce and save money, transfer money from LTH to a Maybank account and vice versa, transfer money from one account to another account LTH, check account balances and register for Haji.
This can be done via Maybank ATM. Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic, Muzaffar Hisham said, the service is open to all owners of Maybank and Maybank Islamic.
LTH chief operating officer, Datuk Kamarudin Mat Ali said the strategic alliance will also have increased access to services than 1,800 to more than 6,000 contact centres, through ATMs and Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) Maybank across the country.
“We see the development of our services as a proactive step to add value to the users and enable them to deal with Maybank ATM and CDM after work.” He said this at a press conference after the launch of strategic cooperation, Maybank Islamic and LTH.
Maybank Islamic is the third bank has partnered with LTH, after Bank Islam and Bank Rakyat.
Muzaffar said he was very confident that this new service will also receive as much support from the custodian of Maybank.
As the first step, the custodian will need to visit any office of LTH to link their accounts with Maybank – BERNAMA
